Higher Performance Achieved Through IPNetTunerX by Sustainable Softworks

CHIPPEWA VALLEY, WI, December 28, 2005—Small Tree Communications, the leading provider of unique, state-of-the-art enterprise networking solutions for Mac OS X, announces improved latency and system performance in its Intel GbE product line at MacWorld 2006 (booth #2411). The announcement follows the introduction of Small Tree Gigabit card support into IPNetTuner by Sustainable Softworks, a leading Macintosh networking developer. With the introduction of IPNetTunerX to its Gb cards, Small Tree now offers the ideal low-cost GbE cluster solution for small business owners seeking enterprise network performance.

As the demand for faster network performance continues its seemingly never-ending ascension, establishing optimal tuning parameters is integral to dramatically improving system performance. Appropriate parameters must be set to facilitate the rapid exchange of data between the client and server. IPNetTunerX, a Graphical User Interface (GUI), allows users to examine various aspects of their system’s network performance as well as tune them to maximize performance.

“System tuning is vital to reducing latency in cluster operations,” stated Corky Seeber, president of Small Tree Communications. “Typically, if a user is trying to create a cluster over their gigabit network, they want to disable interrupt coalescing, which will interrupt the CPU for each packet that arrives. This greatly improves latency and increases processor performance. Through our partnership with Sustainable Softworks and the introduction of IPNetTunerX, Small Tree GbE products will now provide greater system throughput and superior latency which enables users to move big files fast”

“IPNetTuner has always been about making advanced network stack tuning accessible to the Mac community.” said Peter Sichel, Chief Engineer of Sustainable Softworks. “We’re pleased to partner with Small Tree Communications in keeping the Mac on the forefront of high performance networking.”
